All classes are held in the University Center Fitness Studio (63 Fifth Avenue, room L205). Take elevator #1 or #2 to L2, or use the down stairs in the lobby, then stairwell A1.
No registration necessary. In fact it’s not an option. All classes are first come, first serve. Just present your TNS ID to the class attendant, we ask everyone to show up 5 minutes early so the class can start on time. The classes in the first few weeks are always full so make sure you get there even earlier. You should also have your insurance card on you as it’s needed to complete your waiver (and always good to have on hand).
Classes are free for students! And just $5/class or $45/semester for faculty and staff. To purchase a class pass, visit: tinyurl.com/tns-rec-register
Unfortunately due to space and liability, these classes are offered only to CURRENT students, faculty and staff.
No experience is required! Students of all skill levels and experience are welcome to participate.
Yes you can start at any time during the semester, but it’s preferable that you start as soon as possible so you can build on your skills and knowledge.
Its understandable to not be able to attend every class, but we encourage people to stick with these classes throughout the 11-13 weeks. Some classes build upon the skills/lessons taught in prior classes.
Boots, heels, and flip flops are not allowed to be worn in the class. Some classes are acceptable to be barefoot. Otherwise wear non-marking sneakers. Wear comfortable clothing suitable for working out. We provide all equipment (e.g. yoga mats/blocks/blankets, boxing gloves, hand wraps) but if you have your own you are more than welcome to bring it. We recommend you provide your own hand wraps for boxing because they get sweaty. We sell them in the fitness room for $5/pair and can be purchased at tinyurl.com/narwhal-gear with a credit or debit card.
