Spring 2018 Adventures

What's going on this spring?


Friday 1/26, 5pm – Indoor Bouldering at Steep Rock, Harlem – Register Here

Join you fellow Narwhals for an evening of bouldering – all levels of experience welcome! This trip is a great option if you’ve never been climbing before – Steep Rock has both very beginner & advanced bouldering walls (no harness, low walls).

$10 for students, $23 for alumni/staff/faculty and guests

Saturday 1/27, 6pm – Ice Skating at Prospect Park, BK – Register Here

Get out and into the park on your first weekend back at it! Outdoor ice skating 

$5 for students, $13 for alumni/staff/faculty and guests


Sunday 2/3 – Beginner Ski Day Trip to Thunder Ridge Ski Area

Saturday 2/10, 4pm – Indoor Rock Climbing at Brooklyn Boulders, Gowanus Register here

Join your fellow Narwhals and climb the walls at BKB Gowanus! Both bouldering & top rope climbing are available.

$10 for students, $20 for alumni/staff/faculty and guests

Saturday 3/10, 4pm – Indoor Rock Climbing at Brooklyn Boulders, Queensbridge

Join your fellow Narwhals and clinb the walls at BKB Queensbridge! Both bouldering & top rope climbing are available.


Sunday 4/8, 9:30am – Sunday Summit Series, Storm King Day Hike & Art Walk

Take a hike & see some art! First we will summit Storm King Mountain. It’s only 2.5 miles, but it’s a steep one! This hike has some gorgeous view points of the Hudson River Valley. On a clear day you can see all the way down to the city! After the hike, we will head over to the Storm King Art Center where we will walk around the sculpture park to look at works by Alexander Calder, Barbara Hepworth & (Henry) Moore!

Saturday 4/14, 9am – Rabbit Run 5K at Pier 84

Sunday 4/22, 8:45am – Sunday Summit Series, Day Hike in Harriman State Park, NJ

Celebrate Mother Nature with us on Earth Day by taking a hike in the woods of Harriman State Park! We’ll take the train up to Tuxedo and walk 5-8 miles to Lake Sebago via the Ramapo-Dunderberg Trail. 

$15 for students, $30 for alumni/staff/faculty and guests

Fri-Sun 4/27-29 – Overnight Camping Trip at Mohichan Outdoor Center, Appalachan Mountain Club


Sunday 5/6, 9:15am – Sunday Summit Series, Day Hike & Gallery Walk, Mt Beacon & Downtown Beacon

Hike up Mt Beacon to the Town of Beacon Fire Tower. This hike is on the back side of Breakneck Ridge, which is closed for trail restoration, but it’s not quite as steep! At the summit we will have wonderful views of the Hudson River Valley from the top of the Fire Tower. After we return to the base, students will have the option to wander around the town of Beacon and stop in the many galleries, shops & pubs before heading back to the city.

Sunday 5/13, Beach Trip to Rockaway Beach

Take a ferry from Wall St out to the Rockaways. We’ll spend a day at the beach to celebrate the end of the semester!

Interested in registering?

1) Register via our Marketplace (Note: If an event is not listed in the marketplace, that means the trip is full or the event has not opened registration yet).

2) Complete Waiver. If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent/guardian complete the form and you can bring it to check-in.

3) Get confirmation/instructions from the Recreation Office (usually an email a few days prior to the event).

4) We get that life happens and sometimes you need to cancel.  We just ask that you cancel 24 hours before the event time to get your deposit refunded.
